I am committed to creating a confidential, caring and comfortable environment for collaborative work. Building a safe holding space and trusting relationship of equals is of central importance. "Thank you for your professionalism, friendly approach and assistance in addressing my issues. I feel I have made great steps on my journey and I will continue with the good work we have started together."

Mohammad, 42 – Surrey

"Rifat made me feel really comfortable in our sessions and helped me to think about myself in a way that really worked for me, with immediate impact in my day to day life. She is warm and encouraging and I feel able to be surprisingly open with her. Of multiple therapists I have had over the years this has been my best experience."

Anon – Birmingham

"Rifat used effective strategies to help me become aware of my attachment style, understand my needs, patterns and choices better as well as learn to be self compassionate."

Anon – London

"Rifat has listened to me with genuine care and compassion, and her expertise has provided me with valuable insights into my behaviour patterns and their potential origins. This journey has been truly eye-opening, and for the first time, I feel I truly understand myself. I now feel more equipped to face challenges and have grown significantly as a person. Rifat has demonstrated exceptional professionalism throughout, offering guidance without any trace of judgment. Unlike my previous experience elsewhere, I finally feel understood"

What do Counsellors and Psychotherapists do?

These are terms that represent the professionals who provide psychological help (Counselling/Therapy). Counsellors and psychotherapists help you better understand yourself, your behaviours and relationships with others. They do not diagnose, prescribe medication or give advice.

Counselling work is usually short term and deals with everyday life issues that we all come across such as bereavement, marriage issues, parenting challenges, work related concerns, conflict in families, anxiety about something or in general and sometimes big questions pertaining to the meaning of life.

Psychotherapy tends to be longer term work which looks to the events of a person’s past to make sense of difficulties in their present life. This can be perceived or real trauma causing disruption in developmental stages or simply that the useful nurturing things that should have happened for us as we matured and developed simply didn’t happen as they should have or at all.
